Carey Mulligan confirms birth

Actress Carey Mulligan has confirmed rumours she has given birth to a baby girl.

The Great Gatsby star delivered her first child, by her rocker husband Marcus Mumford, last month (Sep15). She has not made the child's name public.

Mulligan was rumoured to be pregnant earlier this year (15) but she did not confirm the report and was not pictured sporting a baby bump.

Earlier this week (beg05Oct15), she attended the London premiere of her new movie Suffragette and sparked speculation she had given birth, as she was clearly not with-child.

Now the actress has finally ended the rumours and confirmed she is a new mum.

Filming an interview with UK talk show host Graham Norton on Thursday evening (08Oct15), Mulligan said, "Yep. It is a girl and she's three weeks old."

The interview is due to air in the U.K. on Friday (09Oct15).

It's amazing the star managed to keep things secret for so long. However, she's always been adamant privacy is essential, particularly in her line of work.

"I have always felt that the less people know about me, the better," she previously told Vogue. "The more similar you look job to job, the more they relate to you from your previous roles That’s why I’ve done loads of really stupid things to my hair in the past to try to not look the same."
