According to The Hollywood Reporter the actors will be joining Michael Chiklis and Alexander Ludwig on the ensemble.

The movie tells the story of an inspiring coach who leads a struggling football team to a never-before-seen winning streak.

Thomas Carter is directing the film where Caviezel depicts De La Salle High School football Coach Bob Ladouceur, and Chiklis plays assistant coach Terry Eidson.

Dern plays Bev, Coach Ladouceur’s wife, and Ludwig will portray the Spartans’ hero running back Chris Ryan.

Couch Ladouceur made history when the Concord, California–based Spartans went from obscurity to a 151-game winning streak from 1992-2003. This was unprecedented in US sports history.

David Zelon is producing the film, which is based on Neil Hayes’ book.

Ludwig is best known for playing Cato in the Hunger Games, also starring Jennifer Lawrence. Since then he has signed on to a number of high-profile projects, including Grown Ups 2, Navy SEAL drama Lone Survivor and indie horror Final Girl with Abigail Breslin.

Principal photography on When the Game Stands Tall begins on April 22 2013 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
