Channing Tatum warns it takes several years to perfect the Magic Mike dances.

The actor is driving fans crazy in the sequel to the 2012 film, which sees him reprise his role as the sexy stripper.

Having previously worked as a male entertainer, 35-year-old Channing has the moves down. But anyone wanting to learn the routine needs to realise it takes work.

"You have to start with the hand! Then the body flows," he tried to explain to German newspaper Bild. "And then you have to train for a few years..."

In Magic Mike XXL, the star's character and his dance team - which features actors Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer - head off on a road trip to perform together for one last time. While sexuality is a big part of the film, it's actually more about emotions.

"It's about big boys who are desperate to find out what women actually want," he explained. "They want friendship and happiness in their lives. A home, where someone you love is waiting for you, is more important than any one-night-stand."

Still, Channing, who has been married to Jenna Dewan for six years, says the physical aspect of a relationship is important. However, love means more to the father-of-one.

"It's even more important," he smiled. "I also love my male friends. Men act cool, but we're also easily hurt and just want to be loved."

Magic Mike isn't the only successful franchise Channing has on his mind. He's also gearing up to return in the role of cop Jenko in 23 Jump Street, which is out next year.
