Channing Tatum tells his daughter he's doing gymnastics when he's practicing for Magic Mike XXL.

The actor is returning to the eponymous character for this year's sequel to 2012's stripper movie, which was loosely based on his life.

Channing and his wife Jenna Dewan Tatum left their 19-month-old daughter Everly at home to attend the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles last night, where they were happy to chat about the upcoming release. Although Everly has seen some highlights from the flick, her parents are keeping her sheltered too.

"She came to rehearsals, which is really fun. We were like, ‘Daddy’s doing gymnastics!’” Jenna laughed.

Channing joked to ET with a wink: “Yeah, it’s just a little gymnastics session, babe, don’t worry…”

Jenna has been very involved with the project, and can't wait to see what people make of it. She's pretty sure the routines will go down well with Channing's female fans.

"God, it’s like the best time ever," she laughed about the star's at-home rehearsals.

"I get to watch all the choreography, listen to the music and he lets me put my input in. It’s every wife’s dream!"

Channing added: "I have a built-in audience right at home, you know – a focus group right at the house."

Last night's event marked the beginning of awards season, with the A-list out in force to see Boyhood take home three awards - for best drama film, best director and best supporting actress.

Keira Knightley was another who was in attendance, and it was a very different experience for her. The star and her husband James Righton confirmed they are expecting their first baby at the end of last year.

"I'll remember everything tomorrow," Keira laughed, promoting her to be asked if that's normally the case. "Not so much, no. But this year I definitely will."

Keira was nominated in the best supporting actress category for her role in The Imitation Game, but lost out to Patricia Arquette for Boyhood.

She wore a Chanel gown with butterfly detailing for the big event, and joked that the "waistline goes up somewhat" in her condition which was why she was rocking an empire-cut gown.

"Luckily I don't have lipstick," she said, in reference to her small black clutch bag. "I only have nuts in here. It's the wonderful thing about being pregnant. You just need to make sure you have snacks. So this is a snack bag."

Jennifer Aniston attended alongside her fiancé Justin Theroux. She's received a lot of awards buzz this season thanks to her role in Cake, which saw her nominated in the best drama actress category. She lost out to Julianne Moore but is still excited about the turn her career has taken.

"Let me tell you, I've been doing it as long as I've been doing it [and] I feel still so excited that there can be exciting new discoveries," she said. "It humbles me that I have such support."
