Chris Evans: I romance myself

Chris Evans is a huge proponent of self-love.

The 34-year-old actor is currently promoting his debut directorial effort Before We Go, a romance about two strangers who fall in love with each other after a series of life-altering events take place one night in Manhattan.

But Chris, who is currently single, carries a unique perspective on how true love can be expressed.

“I'm a pretty romantic guy," he told People magazine. "I don't necessarily limit the notion of romance to people, though. I think I have a romantic relationship to art, to music, to nature.”

Chris finds deep peace and oneness when he is alone in the wilderness.

The Captain America star believes solitude is equally as fulfilling as dating.

"I went camping once for three weeks by myself, which is very romantic," he explained to reporters. "It's true. It was very romantic, but maybe not in the conventional sense."

In Before We Go Chris portrays a trumpet-playing busker who randomly becomes embroiled in the personal affairs of a woman named Brooke, played by Alice Eve.

The actor believes it’s sometimes easier for strangers to be authentic with each other, depending on the context.

"It's two people who are somewhat damaged and find some peace in the arms of a stranger. I think that sometimes that's the best place to go," Chris noted. "Sometimes you can really spill your guts when you're talking to someone who has no judgment."

Chris’ most notable relationship thus far was when he dated actress Jessica Biel from 2001 to 2006.

Jessica has moved on, as she is now married to Justin Timberlake, having welcomed their first child together earlier this year.

But Chris can’t imagine himself settling down anytime soon.

"Oh God, I couldn't even think about my own life," he said. "I had no life during this movie. This movie was all about the movie and that was it."
