Christina Applegate isn’t easily shocked.

The 43-year-old actress rose to fame as a child star, appearing in Fox sitcom Married... with Children for ten years until 1997.

Since then she’s had roles in comedies such as The Sweetest Thing and Anchorman, and admits the nature of her C.V. means she isn’t stunned by much these days.

“Nothing shocks me,” she told Variety at the premiere of her new movie, Vacation. “This film is like a distant dirty cousin to the others.”

While on the red carpet, Christina also spoke about her relief at being free from cancer. Seven years ago, she underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. And she says the experience and her subsequent recovery means she doesn’t take life for granted.

“I'm just grateful, super grateful," she told People Magazine. “It changed me for a while, and now I'm just living life, living my life."

Her new perspective also means that Christina doesn’t dwell on decisions she’s made in the past. A good example is turning down the lead in Legally Blonde - a role eventually made famous by Reese Witherspoon.

“The script came along my way and it was right after I had just finished, Married, and it was a blonde who in that first script didn't win it but ends up going to Yale, or Harvard, I don't remember. I got scared of kind of repeating myself,” she recalled to ET Online. “What a stupid move that was, right' [But] Reese deserved that. She did a much better job than I ever could, and so that's her life. That's her path."
