Christina Hendricks: Hubby gets my career

Christina Hendricks is glad her husband Geoffrey Arend witnessed her Mad Men journey.

The buxom actress played sexy Joan in the hit 60s set TV show, which came to an end in the US last weekend.

As well as launching her career she also met Geoffrey through the series, after being introduced by co-star Vincent Kartheiser. Actor Geoffrey is now in New York shooting Madam Secretary, while Christina is based in LA.

“We are finally doing the back-and-forth thing,” Christina told Los Angeles Confidential.

“He watched the whole [Mad Men] thing grow. He was at the first wrap party with me. So I love that he was there that whole time, because he really understands the adventure and journey.”

Mad Men stars including Christina, Jon Hamm and January Jones attended The Mad Men Experience at the Montalban Theater in Hollywood just hours before the last episode aired on American TV.

Saying goodbye has been hard for them all, and Christina has been left pondering Joan's icon status.

"That word is such a strange word - it’s a big word. I do think that Joan was different from other characters we’ve seen before. And I suppose when I think of an icon, I think of an image along with a feeling that you get from something. You say ‘Joan’ and you think of something very, very quickly," she explained.

"[I] realized it was this resilience and this confidence that she had. It’s like hanging around a friend who has those qualities: You admire them.”
