Christopher Mintz-Plasse insists he isn’t a nerd because he can “shoot a three pointer” in basketball.

The American actor is best known for his roles in Superbad, Role Models and Kick-Ass, and is currently starring in horror remake Fright Night.

The 22-year-old star is famed for playing nerdy characters, but Christopher insists art doesn’t always imitate life.

"I was never really a nerd," he told British newspaper The Guardian.

"I'm not really into comic books or Dungeons and Dragons, or any of that kind of stuff. I was in drama class, and I'm a big movie and music buff. And I'm into sports. I'm pretty decent. I can shoot a three pointer in basketball, and I can kick a soccer ball."

Christopher loves playing geeks. The roles have allowed him the chance to appear in some of Hollywood’s most successful blockbusters.

"I've played a whole bunch of 'em so I can't be sick of them yet," he explained.

"Maybe I will once I get older, and start looking older, finally. But I'm just glad I've had these opportunities to be geeks in some really awesome movies.

"There are shades of nerd in all of them, but they're all on completely different spectrums. I'm not going to deny myself the chance to work with these great directors just because it's a nerdy role.”
