Claire Danes is "amazed" by the depth of her love towards her son.

The 35-year-old actress and her handsome husband Hugh Dancy welcomed their little boy Cyrus in December 2012 and are enjoying every second of being parents. Even after almost two years of being a mom, Claire is still in awe at the emotions she feels for her son.

"I love it, I love him and I'm endlessly amazed by the depths to which I do, at how involuntary and physical and profound it is," she gushed to British magazine Glamour.

"Even when he's sleeping there's this sense of responsibility. Once you make that choice, you can never un-make it and I don’t think there’s any other situation where that’s the case."

Claire has adapted to motherhood much better than her Homeland character Carrie Mathison, who in series four of the show has a baby girl with her former lover Sergeant Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis). After the horrific death of Brody in last season's finale, the blonde actress admits her alter ego is struggling to come to terms with having a daughter.

"The baby is incredibly confronting for her, so her solution is to bail," Claire explained, referring to Carrie's fleeing to the Middle East and leaving her baby with her sister. "She's making morally suspect choices. But where would be the fun in seeing her having a reasonable and pleasant time'"

Claire's lifestyle is a far cry from that of bipolar CIA agent Carrie, which makes her think she'd be awful at the dangerous job.

"The truth is, Carrie is so dissimilar to me on basically every level," she admitted. "I would be an abysmal CIA officer. I’m not even a political beast. I make imaginative leaps all the time. I’m very good at pretending, I guess."
