Cuoco: I'm emotional

Kaley Cuoco says new film Burning Bodhi shows a “completely different” side of her.

The TV star has been known largely for her roles in hit shows like 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, and most recently, The Big Bang Theory.

And when she got the chance to audition for the forthcoming indie drama, about a young man forced to confront his past when a childhood friend dies, she couldn't pass it up.

“I got to show a completely different side of me,” she explained to Variety. “No one really wants to take a chance on me like that, but I’m a very emotional person so it comes easier to me than you would think.”

Writer and director Matthew McDuffie was impressed.

“She was just so raw and beautiful. I knew from the audition that she was a fine actor, but range is an accessibility to your emotions, and she can get there,” he said. “The coolest part in working with her is that she’s a really good storyteller as an actor.”

Kaley on Wednesday received her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

At just 29, and with two successful series under her belt, the actress admits she’s been “lucky”.

“I remember going to my agent (at age 14), and she said, ‘I don’t think you’re going to work until you’re 16, until you have your GED, and you’re done with school,’” she remembered.

“And she was right. I did not work from 14 to 16. Then that’s when 8 Simple Rules came around and, knock on wood, I was able to work consistently ever since then and play my age and kind of grow up a little bit in the business.”

Kaley’s contract on The Big Bang Theory runs out in 2017.

The actress will also hit cinemas in January with The Wedding Ringer, co-starring Kevin Hart and Josh Gad.
