Daniel Craig: Misogyny is gross

Daniel Craig does not think womanising is “a good look”.

The 47-year-old actor, who is married to actress Rachel Weisz, has portrayed notorious ladies’ man James Bond in several movies and he is currently promoting the next installment of the 007 series entitled Spectre.

But even though his spy character sleeps with multiple beautiful women within a short timespan, Daniel doesn’t find that type of lifestyle attractive in the slightest.

“There’s a great sadness. He’s got these beautiful women but then they leave. It’s sad,” he told the UK’s Esquire magazine.

“And as a man gets older it’s not a good look. It might be a nice fantasy, that’s debatable,?but the reality, after a couple of months...”

Daniel believes many playboys actually lead a “very lonely” lifestyle, despite the fact they have sex with multiple partners.

Italian actress Monica Bellucci also stars in Spectre. This is a big deal, as she is 50 years old and many critics might pan her casting due to her age.

Moving forward Daniel would like his Bond persona to be characterised in a way that drops the traditional “sexist and misogynistic” portrayal, but he is happy to have Monica on board for the time being.

“The world has changed,” he noted.

“I am certainly not that person. But he is… so what does that mean? It means you cast great actresses and make the parts as good as you can for the women in the movies.”

Daniel’s forthcoming movie Spectre, which also stars Léa Seydoux, reaches American theatres November 6.
