Denzel Washington has joked he makes all the girls "flustered" because he's "so sexy".

The handsome actor is admired by ladies around the world thanks to his roles in movies such as Malcolm X and Philadelphia.
During an appearance on Britain's BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, one female listener wrote in to say she loves Denzel's voice. The 59-year-old star embraced the compliment by putting on a seductive tone.

"That's right, I have the sexiest voice. I may talk like this for the rest of my life... Hey, how are you'" he suggestively whispered. "I'm Denzel, I'm sexy and I know it. When I look in the mirror, I just see sexy. No breakfast, no coffee, just look at myself. Oh my goodness. Is she [the listener] flustered'

"Ah well, I do that to all the girls. Because, I'm sexy. So sexy."

Denzel is currently promoting his latest film The Equalizer, in which he plays vigilante Robert McCall. He stars alongside Chloƫ Grace Moretz, who plays a young girl called Teri under the control of violent Russian gangsters, and found the 17-year-old star a pleasure to work with.

"First of all she's a very good actress and a very nice young lady and just very talented. It was weird, 'cause we could only... because she was a minor we could only work 'til certain times," he recalled. "So we might get halfway through a scene and she had to go home and we'd go shoot something else."

As well as preparing mentally for the part by researching obsessive compulsive traits, Denzel also trained with professionals to get physically fit. It was tricky to start with though, and the film star admits it took a while to learn the moves required.

"I had a martial arts trainer and he said, 'Point the gun at me,' and next thing I know he's pointing the gun back at me!" Denzel laughed. "I was like, 'What you do'! How did you do that' And he said, 'Take it again,' so I practised that 50 times a day."
