Robert Downey Jr. wooed wife Susan with “oatmeal, herbs and yoga”.

The pair first met back in 2003 while working on Gothika, which Susan produced.

And she said while her husband is known for his eccentric behaviour, it took her a while to be won over.

“We were up in Montreal prepping for Gothika, and we had lunch with the director and Halle Berry," Susan said during the pair’s joint interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "Everybody else ordered Japanese, but Robert told us how oatmeal was the 'superfood.' He brought his own packets of oatmeal to have at lunch. And he had this box of various herbs and stuff. And then he started doing these yoga moves.

“I mean, he was interesting, but weird."

Iron Man star Robert was so smitten he proposed within three months. However, Susan insisted he had to be sober before she agreed to be his wife.

“Addiction was so foreign to me," she said. "I was incredibly ignorant of the hold it had on people."

"Thank God for that," Robert added. "If she knew the depths of my depravity, we would not be sitting here."

Susan, 40, and Robert, 49, are parents to two-year-old Exton and are expecting a baby daughter in November. Robert also has a son Indio from his first marriage.

However, Susan said her priorities in life were entirely different before she met Robert.

"I didn't care about having a family or making a home,” she said. “I didn't think about kids. It's not that I didn't want those things; I just didn't think about them. And then I had someone who came in as a tornado, this creative, beautiful ball of insane energy and passion. And it completely opened me up."
