Dwayne Johnson has recalled the “classic moment” Charlize Theron shouted for him to save her.

The 43-year-old former wrestler is known for his imposing stature and performances in action packed movies including the Fast and the Furious franchise and Hercules. And during a celebrity-filled flight back from CinemaCon in Las Vegas in April, his strength was almost called upon when the airplane hit turbulence.

“It was a classic moment. It was turbulence from hell. Then [Charlize] said at the top of her lungs, ‘We can’t go down. The Rock’s on the plane. You’re going to save us,’” he told USA Today. “I told her, ‘You’re in safe hands.’ ”

Dwayne was on board after promoting his new disaster movie San Andreas, while Charlize had been at the event to talk about her latest flick, Mad Max: Fury Road. Also on the jet was the cast of Entourage; Kevin Dillon, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly and Jerry Ferrara as well as Dwayne’s San Andreas co-star Carla Gugino.

While the 43-year-old actress isn’t sure the man formerly known as The Rock could have pulled the plane out of serious trouble, the interaction between him and Charlize provided some much needed light relief during the storm.

“It was a very comforting thought to all of us,” she said. “You’re happy to be anywhere with that dude. You know you’re in very capable hands.”

However for Dwayne, if he had his pick of which celebrity he would have by his side during a natural disaster like the one in his film, he surprisingly plumped for Oprah Winfrey.

“There's got to be Oprah, too," he laughed. "Then afterward, we can talk through our emotional injuries."
