Elizabeth Olsen is pleased the Avengers were made to appear more "human" in the latest instalment.

The 26-year-old has joined the franchise for Age of Ultron, taking on the role of Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch opposite the likes of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.

Asked how it feels to play such an empowering woman in a mainly male-dominated world, Elizabeth admits she's still taking in the fact she's involved.

"I'm just still thrilled just to be part of this whole group and world. It's a franchise that I've been watching since the first Iron Man. [Marvel] makes such great films with such a balance of depth and humour and action and that's a given, but they're all humans that have weaknesses and strengths," she explained to Cover Media. "It's actually, in this film I think, there's a special highlight on personal worlds and what makes them human. So I think that's what makes this film so great and it's just amazing to be a part of this cast; it's mindboggling."

As Elizabeth pointed out, each of the characters has more emotional interactions this time round.

For Robert, newcomers Elizabeth and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who plays Wanda's twin Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver) and Paul Bettany, the voice of computer system Jarvis and onscreen as Vision, are who made the movie.

"Whose arc do we like besides our own' Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. I feel like Paul and Lizzy and Aaron came out and they exceeded expectations and I feel like, watching the film, I was like, 'Wow', in [so many ways]: that is the big triumph of the film," he gushed.

Chris Evans, aka Captain America, was more mesmerised by the chemistry between Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett, as Black Widow has lots of "intimate" scenes with Hulk, showing their "challenged relationship".
