Ellen DeGeneres reportedly has her staff "freaking out" about her potentially not returning to her show.

The 57-year-old star has been hosting her famous talk show since 2003, and it's one of the most popular on TV.

While she still manages to land top guests and has been lauded for her ability to put fellow A-listers at ease, it appears Ellen may be ready to give her small screen hit up.

Radar Online reports that the bubbly TV personality is unsure about her signing a new deal.

"Ellen’s contract is up in 2017 and she has told her staff that she does not know if she is going to renew it,” an insider said. “Everyone on the staff is just freaking out over this.”

It's thought this decision is also to do with Ellen's wife Portia de Rossi, as the couple reportedly want to strengthen their marriage as time goes on.

If she were to leave her show behind it's not like Ellen would be strapped for cash; she's said to be worth around $200 million and recently made Forbes' 2015 list of The World's Most Powerful Women. She came in at number 50, ahead of the likes of Sofía Vergara, Angelina Jolie and Taylor Swift.

“Ellen does not need to do the show anymore because she has more money than God,” the source added to Radar.

When she isn't busy filming Ellen keeps her fans amused by regular commentary online. With over 40 million followers on Twitter she makes sure to lift all their spirits with humorous and poignant posts.

Recently she shared her delight at Ireland voting for gay marriage to be legalised.

"Ireland did it! The 1st country to legalize marriage equality by popular vote, but they won't be the last! What an incredible accomplishment (sic)" she gushed.
