Emilia Clarke's father sometimes nods off when he's watching Games of Thrones being filmed on set.
The actress has amassed a huge following thanks to her role as Daenerys Targaryen on the fantasy TV show. Her family have all given her a lot of support and regularly join her for shoots, although it can be embarrassing when she has her dad in tow.
"It's lovely when they come, even though my dad will often fall asleep when he's watching the monitor, as if he's watching telly at home," she laughed to British magazine Marie Claire.
One of the reasons Emilia is so proud to be involved in the TV show is because of the amount of strong female characters it depicts. She realises many actresses don't get the opportunity to really show what they can do, something she finds astounding given her upbringing.
"It's funny to me to talk about strong, independent women because I've got as really badass mum, so I've grown up thinking that women weren't anything other than absolutely equal to men," she explained. "And thanks to Game of Thrones, my career so far has been all about playing strong women. Drama school was really the only time when I ever felt like, 'Erm, can I get a good part, please?'"
There is another gutsy performance in store for fans of Emilia, as she takes on the iconic role of Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys. Although it's an honour to play the part first made famous by Linda Hamilton, she was concerned about not living up to expectations.
That was why Emilia decided to go a little bit method, learning survival techniques and working out so she could hulk her gun around. She also wanted to make sure she impressed Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is back for the latest instalment of the franchise.
"You just can't f**k it up. There's a million billion fan-boys who will literally pull my head off if I do. But I am not playing a copycat - her back story has changed and I've got to put my own spin on it," Emilia explained.
"Those f**king guns are super heavy. You're running with them a lot of the time, and I needed to keep up with/ be better than the boys. I needed to know what to do to have Arnold go, 'Very nice.' That was my goal."
