Emma Stone: I carve my own career

Emma Stone doesn't take herself too seriously.

The 26-year-old star has forged herself a successful career thanks to the likes of movies Easy A, The Help and Crazy, Stupid, Love. Despite the hype surrounding her performance skills, Emma doesn't let it go to her head and always strives to do better.

"It's impossible to take yourself too seriously. There is always someone better coming along behind you, so there's an inventive to carve out your own path and avoid getting caught up in any external reaction to what you're playing," she explained to British newspaper Metro.

Next up Emma can be seen in dark comedy Birdman alongside Michael Keaton. She plays Sam, the daughter of a former Hollywood superhero (Keaton) who is trying to prove himself as a serious actor.

It's already received countless award buzz, with Emma receiving best supporting actress nods at both the SAG Awards and Golden Globes.

"I was laughing out loud when I read the script, which is the best indication of a comedy being truly funny," she smiled. "Sam pins the majority of her troubles on her father. He's the source of so much pain for her."

Alongside her film career Emma also has her role on Broadway, playing Sally Bowles in the production Cabaret. And there's her romance with her The Amazing Spider-Man co-star Andrew Garfield keeping her name in the spotlight too, though the actress is keen to keep details of her love life private.

"It has so many facets, it's indefinable - it's impossible to give an answer," she replied when asked about her feelings towards Andrew.
