Emma Watson: I don't care about sex appeal

Emma Watson has never been in a "terrible rush" to be "sexy", and would rather just wear a sports bra.

The 23-year-old actress rose to international stardom thanks to her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series. Emma - who was cast in the hugely successful franchise aged just nine - says that looking sensual has never been top of her agenda.

“I’ve never wanted to grow up too fast. I wanted to wear a sports bra until I was 22!” she exclaimed in the June/July issue of W magazine.

“The allure of being sexy never really held any excitement for me. I’ve never been in a terrible rush to be seen as a woman.”

Emma is currently promoting new crime drama film The Bling Ring at the Cannes Film Festival. The stunning star showed off her style credentials this afternoon in a feathered Christopher Kane ensemble as she arrived for the movie's photocall.

Emma plays Nicki in the film, which follows a group of teenagers who track celebrities' whereabouts in order to rob their homes.

The actress says her character's on-screen wardrobe took some getting used to.

“Who wouldn’t love to go to work in Uggs and very low-slung tracksuit bottoms'” she mused.

“At one point I told the [film's] costume designer, ‘You can see my bra strap in this top; shouldn’t we pin it'’ And she said, ‘No, sweetie — Nicki is all about her bra strap showing.’ I was like, Right, OK, different mind-set.”
