Actress Emma Watson enjoyed Ethan Hawke's musical entrance to the set of Regression every day.
The British beauty stars opposite the 44-year-old actor in the thriller, directed by Alejandro Amenábar. It's an intense storyline, following Detective Bruce Kenner's (Ethan) investigation of a father who admits to sexually abusing his teenage daughter Angela (Emma), despite not remembering it.
Luckily Ethan didn't let the dark theme take over his personality when the camera wasn't on.
"He is such a joy to be around," Emma, 25, told BBC Radio 1 of her co-star. "Every day he would come into the hair and make-up trailer playing a different instrument. Like, sometimes he'd rock up with a trumpet, and sometimes he'd rock up with a guitar, sometimes he'd be singing... He'd always be reading something interesting. He was just really nice to be around. He was also a child actor so it was nice; I got to talk to him a lot about what that's like."
It's such a dark tale that Emma admits she wouldn't have agreed to the role had it not been for filmmaker Alejandro's "incredibly tasteful" approach. Despite the sinister story, the star was won over by the twists and turns of it and thinks audiences will be left surprised by how events pan out.
Amid promoting Regression there have been some more uplifting moments though. August (15) marked 15 years since the first ever Harry Potter movie was released, which saw a young Emma step out as Hermione Granger for the first time.
"15 years - It's so weird!" she laughed. "It was one of those nice, full-circle moments really 'cause I did my last day on Beauty and the Beast, as Belle, and as I was driving home I saw all the stuff reminding me that it had been 15 years to the day that I was cast as Hermione. It's so crazy, more than half of my life."
Fans can see her in the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, also starring Ewan McGregor and Dan Stevens, in 2017.
