Ethan Hawke skeptical about scary movies

(Cover) - EN Movies - Ethan Hawke steers clear of appearing in "mediocre scare-fests".

The actor stars in the horror movie Sinister, which is a big move away from the independent films he is renowned for.

Ethan says the intelligent script for Sinister lured him in.

"You know, I really don't like those kinds of movies very much but I met with [director] Scott Derrickson and I was just really impressed... He understands the difference between Rosemary's Baby or The Shining and a mediocre scare-fest," he told Empire magazine.

Ethan is also starring in high octane movie Getaway. The 41-year-old star had a lot of fun during filming.

"It really is just pure rock 'n' roll. It's a car chase movie straight out of the '70s, you know," he explained. "I drove this car wicked fast through the streets of Bulgaria and had a lot of fun.

"It's a 12-year-old boy's fantasy, to be given a 2013 Mustang and floor it through an urban environment. And I didn't get hurt so I'm happy."
