Eva Longoria: Love requires patience

Eva Longoria has learnt to “grow together” in a relationship or risk it ending.

The actress filed for divorce from basketball star Tony Parker in 2010 after discovering text messages he’d sent to another woman. She went on to enjoy an on/off romance with Eduardo Cruz and although they’ve been seen together this year it’s unknown if they are still in a relationship.

Eva has opened up about what she knows about love.

“I love humour and intelligence. Patience is also a big one in a relationship, and knowing that people are always growing,” she told Parade. “I’ve learned you either grow together or you grow apart.”

Eva is the executive producer of dating TV show Ready for Love. It aims to pair people up with their dream other half and she is intensely proud of the format and her involvement in the process.

“We use matchmakers to find the person that’s going to be the best match for our three guys. I interviewed hundreds of guys, and I handpicked these three myself. They’re some of my best friends now, and I would absolutely introduce them to my sister or my friends,” she said.

Eva remains best known for her portrayal of self-centred Gabby Solis in Desperate Housewives, the final series of which aired last year. Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross also appeared on the show and Eva has nothing but great memories of the years they worked together.

“I actually just hung up the phone with Felicity Huffman,” she explained. “I miss the cast, and I miss the character of Gabby. That show was life-changing, so I’ll always hold those memories very dear to my heart.”
