Eva Mendes has lamented her lack of sleep.

The 40-year-old actress and partner Ryan Gosling welcomed daughter Esmeralda last September.

While presenting onstage at charity event Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer Wednesday night, Eva fumbled her words reading the teleprompter.

But she recovered with a fact about her recent sleeping patterns that charmed the audience.

"I just had a baby. I haven't slept. I'm sorry!" she gushed, triggering a giggle from the crowd.

The star-studded occasion, which is chaired by CAA agent Jim Toth and his wife Reese Witherspoon, was attended by Matthew McConaughey, Robert Downey Jr. and more Hollywood A-listers.

And Eva acknowledged her brother Carlos in a moving speech.

"Each one of us here tonight, are here in this room because someone in our family, or someone close to us, has been affected by this insidious disease," she said. "Tonight I'm here with my family - my brother Carlos who I love so much - he had treatment today, and we weren't sure if he was going to be feeling up to it, so I'm so happy he made it, and I love you."

Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer raised $16 million for disease research that evening.

Eva previously revealed during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that Esmeralda has yet to sleep through the night.

But the Girl in Progress star is loving every moment of her newfound motherhood, despite the lack of energy.

“No! No, God no. She’s two months! You know, we’re getting the hang of it, the sleeping thing, but yeah I’m exhausted and it’s the best," she smiled during her conversation with Ellen.

“Really, I’m so incredibly tired. I thought I was tired before at times, but no. Nothing like this, but I wouldn’t have it any other way."
