(Cover) - EN Movies - Famke Janssen says she isn't as "lucky" as Meryl Streep so ends up playing "alien creatures" on screen.
The Dutch actress is famed for playing villainous Bond girl Xenia Onatopp in GoldenEye and Jean Grey in the X-Men film series.
Famke would like to play a more run-of-the-mill film character - although she'd never turn down what she's offered.
“I am nothing like the characters I play, but I know I look like I would be,” she told the New York Post.
"Of course, when you’re Meryl Streep or Daniel Day-Lewis, it’s a different story, but most of us are not that lucky. It’s not like I turn down those parts and opt for the alien creatures. It’s what's offered to me.”
Famke is playing the evil sorceress Muriel in upcoming action-adventure Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters, which also stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.
She has previously spoken about being typecast in movie roles.
"People have a very specific thing about them. And yes, you can go against type, but most of the time, you cast somebody for the way they look, or the way they appear to be, even if that’s not at all the way they are... So yes, my options are going to be restricted and limited to playing certain types of characters, but within that range, I try to find different things to play a little bit," she explained.
