Felicity Jones is on the hunt for more comedic roles.

The British actress had a prolific TV career before emerging as a movie star in 2011's Like Crazy opposite Jennifer Lawrence.

Her most recent film role is in The Theory of Everything, where she plays Jane Hawking, wife of brilliant physicist Stephen. While the film never invites audiences to pity Stephen, it does show how his family, especially Jane, suffered as they struggled to live with his motor neuron disease diagnosis.

“I’d love to do more comedy,” Felicity confessed to the British edition of Esquire magazine.

“It’d just be nice to go into work and not be crying every day. Some broad slapstick would be great. Falling over banana skins would be wonderful.”

Eddie Redmayne takes on the role of Stephen, and is being tipped for Oscar success thanks to his flawless portrayal.

"I remember saying to Eddie a couple of months after shooting had ended: I am still thinking about Jane! It takes a bit of time to rediscover who you are afterwards," Felicity recalled.

The movie is based on Jane's memoir of her marriage, and Felicity wanted to play her with authenticity.

The brunette star poured over the material and had to capture Jane both as a young student and an adult woman.

"Jane has a certain energy and eccentricity I wanted to capture. She has this incredibly idiosyncratic way of moving and talking. I wanted her to feel almost like a ballerina, like she was dancing through the first act [when her and Hawking meet as students]. But I also loved playing her later, after 25 years caring for Stephen, when her sense of humour has become more caustic after all the prejudice they experience," she explained.
