(Cover) - EN Movies - Ben Foster will take on Shia LaBeouf’s role in Broadway play Orphans.

The 32-year-old actor will join Alec Baldwin and Tom Sturridge in the production, producers announced on Thursday.

Shia walked out of the play after what he called a “disagreeable situation” with co-star Alec.

The New York Times reports that Ben had previously auditioned for the role of “malevolent and emotionally unstable” character Treat.

However, he has never been in a play as a professional actor before.

Ben, who has starred in movies X Men: The Last Stand and 3:10 to Yuma will begin rehearsals on Friday.

Shia was supportive of his replacement.

“Ben Foster is a beast. He will kill it,” he wrote on his Twitter page following the announcement.

Shia and Alec were due to appear alongside each other in Orphans which is set to start previewing on March 19.

However, following a week of rehearsals it was announced that Shia was no longer involved.

Initially producers blamed "creative differences", but Shia used Twitter to hint that a “disagreeable situation” had been the reason behind his departure.

Orphans is about two brothers without parents who become thieves to survive. They eventually kidnap a rich man, but their relationship with him becomes blurred.
