Gal Gadot is feeling under pressure to get Wonder Woman right.

The 30-year-old actress was a relative unknown before she was cast as the superhero in the upcoming film, due for release in 2017.

And in a new interview, the Israeli star admits she is feeling somewhat apprehensive about the part.

“There are so many expectations for this character, it’s impossible not to be a little nervous about it,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

Gal’s first appearance as Wonder Woman will be in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, in which Ben Affleck stars as the Caped Crusader and Henry Cavill reprises his role as Superman.

And while plot details are still being kept a closely guarded secret, director Zak Snyder admits Gal will be a vital character in the film.

“She plays a super-important part,” Zak said. “In a lot of ways, she’s the gateway drug to the rest of the Justice League.”
Prior to her casting in Wonder Woman, Israeli star Gal has had roles in the Fast & Furious franchise.

She also revealed in the interview that she almost turned down the chance to audition for one of the most famous roles in the world.

Her agent offered her the opportunity to fly to London to audition for 2008 film Quantum of Solace, but Gal initially said no.

“I said, ‘There’s no way I’m going to go; it’s all in English, I’m not an actress, and I’m in school,’'” she said. “So I didn’t go.”
But Gal was eventually persuaded to give it a go, only to lose out on the role.
