Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck still “care about each other”.

The pair sparked rumours they could be heading for a reconciliation when they were seen looking happy and relaxed in each other’s company while leaving a family counseling centre on Thursday.

However, a source close to the former couple has insisted they have no intention of putting their divorce on hold.

"There is no reconciliation," the source told People.com. "They are working with a professional because there are emotions involved and they want to make this transition as easy as possible for their family."

Ben and Jennifer are parents to nine-year-old Violet, six-year-old Seraphina and three-year-old Samuel.

And as the pair embark on the official side of their divorce, their main concern is ensuring the happiness and wellbeing of their brood.

"They are working together and are keeping it amicable,” the source added. "This is something they have been working on for over a year – and they continue to be strong unit.

"It's not just for the kids – it's also for them. They care about each other."

Jennifer and Ben spent the summer with their children and are now living just doors away from each other.

The 43-year-old actress is living at the family home, while Ben is staying in a rental property a few doors down.

Ben and Jennifer announced the end of their marriage at the end of June, just one day after their ten-year wedding anniversary.

Speculation was rife that the couple were splitting before they confirmed the news, and it has since been claimed they attended couple's therapy for nearly two years.
