The Captain Starlight Company and UMedia are excited to announce that principal photography on feature film Generation Z has commenced. The film is being shot on location in Wales and on Mallorca, Spain. UMedia International is handling world sales.

Generation Z is a high-concept action thriller set after an apocalyptic zombie outbreak, where mankind finally has the upper hand. Written by Paul Gerstenberger (All Stars), Generation Z is being directed by Steve Barker (Outpost I and II). The film is produced by Nigel Thomas and Charlotte Walls of Matador Pictures (All Is By My Side) and Nick Gillott of The Captain Starlight Company, and Executive Produced by Karl Richards of UMedia, which majority financed the film, with Gloucester Place Films.

The superb international cast is led by DOUGRAY SCOTT (Taken 3, My Week with Marilyn), who stars with JESSICA DE GOUW (Dracula, Arrow) and MARTIN MCCANN (71, The Pacific). The supporting cast includes Claire Goose (Mount Pleasant), Jassa Ahluwalia (Dragonheart 3: The Sorcerer’s Curse) and Elen Rhys (World War Z).

Charlotte Walls from Matador Pictures comments: “We're thrilled to be partnering with Steve Barker again for Generation Z and thanks to Paul Gerstenberger's smart, elevated script we couldn't have asked for a better cast to bring this highly original and disturbing story world to life.”

UMedia CEO Adrian Politowski says: “We’re pleased to collaborate on GENERATION Z with Matador Pictures and Captain Starlight – a movie which completely reinvents the concept and classic genre of zombie movies, and takes it to another level.”

The project was attracted to film in Wales by Gennaker Ltd (working alongside sister company Western Edge Pictures), which runs a new film and media fund. Vaughan Sivell, CEO of Gennaker, commented, “We are thrilled to be working with Matador again and to have such a strong project based and filming in the region.”

SYNOPSIS

Set after an apocalyptic zombie outbreak, humankind finally has the upper hand. But Melanie (Jessica de Gouw), who lost her family in the outbreak, is still deeply traumatised. In a bid to overcome the horrors of her past she goes with her boyfriend, Lewis (Martin McCann) to The ReZort, a safari retreat where every paying guest has a licence to kill the undead. There they encounter Archer (Dougray Scott) a former zombie-hunter with demons of his own to confront. However, unknown to guests, The ReZort is a highly controlled and monitored environment; a maze of concealed security cameras, restraints and barriers.

The eyes and ears of trained security personnel are on the guests 24/7, ensuring a safe shooting distance between the living and the undead. That is until The ReZort's security system is crashed by undead-rights activists, unleashing thousands of bloodthirsty zombies back into the wild. Shaken to her core, Melanie must face her worst nightmare head on and battle her way to safety – and Archer must step up and save the day.

The clock is ticking as the government activates Brimstone, an emergency protocol to annihilate any zombie outbreak that could threaten mankind again. 5 hours, 25 minutes and counting until The ReZort is destroyed...
