George Clooney is dedicated to keeping things “fun” on set.

The 50-year-old actor portrays distant father Matt King in dysfunctional family comedy-drama The Descendants.

His character’s daughters are portrayed by Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller, who are both over twenty years his junior.

George had a ball with his onscreen family.

“The kids, I really messed with,” George told Us Weekly. “Part of your job is to keep it fun!”

George ensured that everyone was at ease with each other from the beginning.

Good rapport amongst cast members is essential for the actor.

“I would say, ‘Stay over there and don’t talk to me.’ No, just kidding. A big part of it was just getting to know the gang and all of us getting comfortable and having the ability to give each other s**t,’” he quipped.

While George is not sharing laughs with his co-stars on set, he is likely to be spending time with his girlfriend Stacy Keibler.

Stacy was a contestant on Dancing With the Stars in 2006.

Although George is fond of his girlfriend’s ballroom skills, he is unlikely to dance in a public forum anytime soon.

“No [I will not be on DWTS]! I’m a terrible dancer,” he laughed.

The Descendants is now in US theatres.
