Giovanni Ribisi and Agyness Deyn have ended their marriage.

Less than three years after quietly tying the knot at the Los Angeles County Registrar’s Office in June 2012, the pair have called it quits.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the 40-year-old actor filed paper in January citing irreconcilable differences. They state the pair went their separate ways on December 28.

At the moment no further details have been released.

Although the couple kept their relationship mostly out of the spotlight, the model-turned-actress opened up to InStyle magazine in 2013 about their whirlwind romance, which took a lot of people by surprise.

“I suppose you meet someone and you’re just like… you know. Obviously, if someone’s marrying someone, they’re bringing a lot of really good stuff,” she explained.

The 31-year-old also addressed her new husband’s religion. She revealed she was still adjusting to the fascination and constant speculation surrounding his controversial Scientology beliefs.

“I just think it's funny because no-one really ever asked me about religion before. No-one was like, ‘What’s it like going out with a Christian?’ Now people ask me about it. Maybe it’s because it’s a new religion and people are curious about it. I don’t know,” she said.

Not that she was at all put off by the constant questioning, simply stating “my husband is an amazing man”.

While Giovanni is known for his impressive, varied body of work, starring in everything from Avatar to A Million Ways to Die in The West and even Friends, his estranged wife has also segued into acting in the past few years.

She’s currently shooting the star-studded comedy Hail, Caesar! alongside heavy-hitters George Clooney, Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson, which is set for release in 2016.
