Gwyneth Paltrow has invited Chris Martin to spend Christmas with her, according to reports.

The couple announced their split via a post on Gwyneth’s website Goop titled ‘conscious uncoupling’ in March following ten years of marriage. It’s been claimed the former couple are still smitten with one another and are hoping for a reconciliation, so it won’t come as a surprise if they are to spend the festive season together.

“Gwyneth hates the idea of this being her first Christmas as a single woman, and she doesn’t want the kids to have to split their time between her and Chris,” an insider told British magazine Closer. “So she suggested he come over for the holidays. She’s asked him to invite his family, too, and she’s planning a big Christmas Eve party and massive feast the next day.”

Gwyneth and Chris are parents to daughter Apple, ten, and son Moses, eight. On top of Christmas Day it’s thought the pair will also unite for New Years after having time to re-evaluate their marriage.

“Gwyneth said last year’s festivities were so tense between her and Chris, but now they’re in a much better place and they can really enjoy themselves,” the source added.

Both parties have been linked to other people since their separation, with the Coldplay singer reportedly dating Jennifer Lawrence and Gwyneth apparently romancing Glee co-creator Brad Falchuk.

Although their split was apparently not intended to be final and both are believed to be open to giving things another shot.

"Gwyneth has been playing the long game. For a while things on their marriage weren't great, but by 'consciously uncoupling' - rather than splitting - Gwyneth ensured that they would remain part of each other's lives. The door has always been left open for them to get back together," an insider recently told British magazine Grazia.
