Anne Hathaway “geeked out” on the set of Interstellar.

The 31-year-old actress is no stranger to fancy wardrobe requirements, having starred as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. But her latest step into the science fiction genre was more exciting than anticipated.

“When I stepped on the set, I geeked out,” Anne told People magazine at the Los Angeles premiere of Interstellar on Sunday.

Anne plays the character of Amelia Brand, who boards a spaceship and travels through a wormhole in order to find a new planet. The science fiction thriller sees the star slip into a full space suit.

“And when I put on the space suit, I freaked out!" she gushed to the publication.

The movie was directed by Christopher Nolan and also stars Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain and Topher Grace.

And while filming, Anne happily gobbled up all the scientific information she was exposed to.

“The nerdery was out of control on this movie," Anne continued. "It's like a real treat to have a practical set to interact with. It helped us escape into the world of believing it."

The Devil Wears Prada actress was joined by Matthew at the premiere, who also thoroughly enjoyed being on set. The actor raved about the movie, claiming it is “one hell of a ride,” but that it’s not just about space. He made it clear there’s a personal story attached to the film.

“It’s a very intimate movie,” he added. “And the ironic thing is that the further out there in the large scope and what would be considered sci-fi, the more personal the movie becomes."

Interstellar is set for US release on November 7.
