Katie Holmes doesn’t think mother-daughter Halloween costumes are “cheesy”.

The 35-year-old Dawson’s Creek actress shares eight-year-old Suri with her ex-husband Tom Cruise.

And although she doesn’t mind seeing people dress up in similarly themed costumes, Katie isn’t keen on adopting that look for herself and Suri this spooky season.

"I don't think it's cheesy but probably not," she told E! Online in response to a question about mother-daughter Halloween garb. "I might go old school and wear a 'Happy Halloween' sweatshirt."

Katie has recently become bicoastal, as she lives in Los Angeles and New York City.

But the star doesn’t have a preference for any region of the country in particular.

"We have a place in both cities—we're really lucky,” she gushed. “I love California and New York. They both offer so much and there are such amazing artists and people in both places.”

Setting up shop in Los Angeles might be a beneficial career move for Katie.

The thespian announced last month she will be making her directorial debut on a new film entitled All We Had. The picture is based on the novel written by Annie Weatherwax, which centres on a mother and daughter who are living on the brink of poverty. Despite their circumstances, the duo find an unlikely home in a quirky small town.

Katie is also producing the feature with Jane Rosenthal while The Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone is adapting the screenplay from the book, which was published by Scribner in August.
