Katie Holmes often wonders if she is “doing enough” as a mother.

The 35-year-old actress is a single mum to eight-year-old daughter Suri Cruise, who she had with former husband Tom Cruise.

And in a newly-published segment of an interview with America’s People magazine, the star admits she faces insecurities over her parenting skills.

The Batman Begins star discussed with the outlet the questions she asks herself when it comes to how she raises her only child.

"Am I enough? Am I doing enough? Have I seen her enough?" she mused, adding the conclusion she sometimes comes to is not always a positive one.

"Guess what? You're not enough, she hasn't seen you enough, you're horrible: That's how it can feel sometimes," Katie confessed.

But she doesn’t let these concerns bring her down. The actress acknowledged as a parent she has to keep going and be confident in her abilities.

"You do the best you can. Some days you feel really good about yourself and some days you don't," said the beauty.

She has a solid team of “girlfriends of all ages” on whom she “leans” for moral support. But Katie admits whilst she is fortunate enough to be in a position to hire assistance, this doesn’t decrease her responsibilities.

"I do have help, yes, but it's your baby, you know?" Katie told the publication. "You want to be the one who is there."

And when it comes to judging each other’s or one’s own parenting skills, the former Dawson’s Creek favourite thinks we should relax. She added a note of advice to others feeling the pinch with their children.

"I think we all need to just ease up," said Katie. "Ease up on the expectations, and the worrying. We're all trying to do the best we can."
