Jack Reynor admits it was “intimidating” to meet director Michael Bay.

The up-and-coming Irish actor will star alongside Mark Wahlberg in Michael’s Transformers 4. Jack has recalled auditioning for the role, confessing he was nervous about making a good first impression.

“I did [audition], which was an intimidating thing to do,” he told BBC Newsbeat at the London Critics' Circle Awards on Sunday. “We sat down, we had a long chat one day, which was great. I felt totally comfortable with Michael, he’s a really nice guy, but, you know, in the back of your mind he is such a huge director and he does these really high scale type of films. It can be a bit intimidating, but I went for it as best I could and it came out alright.”

Jack is remaining tight-lipped about landing the high-profile role.

The 20-year-old star refused to give much away about the plotline or his character.

“I am not going to say anything about that just yet,” he smiled when asked about the script. “At the moment I am training a lot, trying to get myself ready for it and we will see how it goes. We are still waiting for our shoot date but it will be around May.”

Jack also refused to confirm if he has secured a deal to appear in more than one Transformers movie.

The actor went on to reveal he is looking forward to working with his co-star Mark, explaining he has always admired his work.

“Not yet, but I am really excited,” he said when asked if he has met Mark. “I am a huge fan of Mark Wahlberg and I think he is an incredible actor. I am really excited to be involved in the project.”

Mark recently revealed shooting of the fourth instalment in the sci-fi action franchise will begin in May.

Transformers 4 is slated for release in summer 2014.

Jack recently finished work on new comedy The Delivery Man, which stars Vince Vaughn.

The young star was thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with the Hollywood comic legend.

“That was really good fun, it was great. Vince is a lovely guy and I had an absolute blast, I made a lot of friends on that set and I had a great time,” he added.
