(Cover) - EN Movies - Jason Statham drew from his “priceless” action experience whilst shooting fight scenes in his newest film.
Jason stars alongside Robert De Niro and Clive Owen in director Gary McKendry’s action-thriller Killer Elite. The actor has vast experience with filming violent sequences. He played an assassin in 2011 film The Mechanic and starred in Sylvester Stallone’s 2010 film The Expendables. Jason’s wealth of knowledge helped him profusely while filming.
“The experience along the course of the years is priceless because you know what works and how to do it. If you see a camera in a wrong place, you know that is not going to work. So you don’t waste your time doing shots and reviewing them on the monitor and going, ‘I told you that wouldn’t work.’ “ Jason explained to Collider. “You just get quite clear.”
Jason does not like to waste time on set for any reason. He is comfortable with performing his scenes in a single take.
“If you can throw a punch and it lands correctly, the energy is good, and so is the timing – move on. Some people like to do a safety, which I can understand. If the director is happy to move on with 1 take then I am happy to move on. I really am. That includes dialogue too,” Jason explained. “I generally hate to do a lot of takes. I like to do a minimal amount.”
Jason will put his action experience to use again soon in Sylvester’s Expendables 2. The sequel will begin filming in November and Jason is excited to get started.
“It is such a great time with Sly,” Jason said. “He is a man I am very happy to work with again.”
Killer Elite premieres in US theatres on September 23.
