Jeff Goldblum has become a father for the first time.

The 62-year-old Jurassic Park actor and his wife Emilie Livingston announced they were expecting a boy in January. And on Tuesday, the couple announced via Facebook their son had arrived safely over the weekend.

“We’re so excited to share the wonderful news of the birth of our son, Charlie Ocean Goldblum, born on the 4th of July. Independence Day,” Jeff wrote.

The star, who is currently working on Independence Day: Resurgence, first shared the news of Emilie’s pregnancy during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.

“She's pregnant! She's three months pregnant,” he said on the TV programme. "She told me the day before we got married that she's pregnant. It's a boy. If it stays, our current thinking [for his name] is Elliot Charlie."

Clearly the couple had a change of heart over the little boy’s moniker, but they couldn’t be more thrilled with their bundle of joy.

Jeff married the gymnast in November last year after becoming engaged in July 2014 following a romantic proposal in Hawaii. The actor has been married twice before. Jeff was wed to Patricia Gaul from 1980 to 1986 and later to Geena Davis from 1987 to 1990, but he had no children in either union.

Us Weekly first broke the news of Jeff and Emilie’s marriage, which took place at the famed Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

"It was a night filled with love, music, and lots of laughs," a source told the outlet.
