Jeremy Renner doesn't always take action movie roles so his body can have a proper break.
The 44-year-old star has become known as one of the go-to action adventure guys in Hollywood lately, thanks to his roles in the Avengers and Mission: Impossible franchises. He insists he isn't only interested in that genre though, not least because he's not sure his fitness levels could take much more.
"I think it has to do with body. Let my body take a break. Sometimes, I just think it's what my body can take, I don't want to run at 100 miles per hour all year long," he laughed to screenrant.com.
Fans are already looking forward to seeing next year's Captain America: Civil War, in which Jeremy reprises his role as Clint Barton / Hawkeye. Although he hasn't given much away as yet, the star teased people who are after an adrenaline injection won't feel hard done by.
"It's more active, a lot of fun stuff happening in that movie. I can't speak too much for it because they're still filming that sucker right now but yeah, there's a lot of stuff happening in that movie. Physically for me anyway. And then who knows in the future'" he said.
Some stars aren't that into franchise movies as they like to test themselves with different characters. For Jeremy, part of the fun is getting to revisit people he's helped to bring to the big screen though. That said, he's happy to see new blood making its way into the Marvel universe too. For example Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson joined this year's Avengers: Age of Ultron.
"I think it's probably both. It's always great to know you're gonna have a job next year or something, that's a fantastic blessing for any actor, it's nice to be able to continue things and characters that you've grown with," he said. "But it's also good to have new faces come in. They're not big on replacing people and characters so much, which I think is smart, because there's so many different characters. I think there's gonna be a lot of new faces coming up in that world and I'm just happy to be a part of that big universe."
