Jodie Foster has married her girlfriend, according to new reports.

The Silence of the Lambs star began seeing actress-and-photographer Alexandra Hedison in 2013.

And according to E! Online the pair are now officially spouses, as they tied the knot last weekend.

The couple were first linked last summer after they were photographed together at a technology seminar at Fox Studios in Los Angeles, California. They were then seen enjoying dinner some days later.

Before breaking up in 2004, Alexandra was with Ellen DeGeneres for three years, the website reports. Jodie’s other half is also known for portraying Dylan Moreland in US drama The L Word for three seasons.

Apparently the couple were besotted with each other almost instantly, and decided to form a committed partnership last autumn.

"It's pretty serious," a source told E! Online at the time. "They're totally in love."

Jodie famously thanked her ex Cydney Bernard when she accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Globes in January 2013. The actress also spoke of her need for privacy as she commented on her sexuality at the ceremony.

The former couple share sons Charles and Kit and broke up in 2008 after 20 years together.

Jodie’s professional life has been tame in recent years, as she was last seen in sci-fi action film Elysium, which reached theatres last summer.

She also directed House of Cards instalment Chapter 22, the ninth episode of the political drama’s second season, which aired on Valentine’s Day.
