Johnny Depp thinks he's just the kind of person Amber Heard didn't want to be with.

The actor met 28-year-old Amber on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011 and have been a couple since 2012, announcing their engagement at the end of last year. Despite being happy together, the 50-year-old star admits that two actors in a relationship isn't always the best idea.

"I bet I'm just the kind of person Amber never wanted to be with," he smiled to German magazine TV Movie. "But it feels right for both of us."

Johnny was previously in a long term relationship with Vanessa Paradis, who he met in 1998. They have two children together, Lily-Rose and John, but in 2012 they announced their separation.

Much was made of the fact that they never married, but the star knows he made the right decision by waiting until he was ready.

"I'm now ready to love another person for the rest of my life," he said.

The actor's latest part is in sci-fi drama Transcendence, in which he plays a technology savvy doctor who aims to create an omniscient, sentient machine. In real life, he has no idea when it comes to technological endeavours.

"I can't even write on a computer - I'm an idiot," he admitted. "I prefer pen and paper. Or my typewriter from the '40s."
The star previously revealed that he doesn't even help his kids with their homework, as he's so useless on a computer.

"As far as technology [goes], I'll put it this way, my kids are smart enough not to come to me with any questions about the computer, or even homework for that matter. If it's to do with history or literature or music I'm all right. I'm good. If it's maths, I am down the road," he laughed.
