Jon Hamm slams ‘stupid’ stars

Jon Hamm believes “stupidity” is taking over the entertainment industry.

Hamm plays suave advertising executive Don Draper in the hit TV show Mad Men. He has confessed his disdain for people who became famous without merit.

The 40-year-old star claims that being a “f**king idiot” had become valuable commodity.

“We’re at a place where the idea of being ‘elite’ is somehow considered a negative,” he told British edition of Elle.

“Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated.”

The actor also slammed the industry’s influence on body image.

While his Mad Men co-star Christina Hendricks has gained fans with her voluptuous figure, Jon says most people feel under pressure to look a certain way.

“I can’t say it has changed anything,” he said.

“It’s a spike, a blip. I think Christina Hendricks is a beautiful woman, but we live in a culture where the beauty model is significantly different from Christina’s silhouette. It shouldn’t be – those of us that live in real life realise, especially as we get older, that beauty isn’t just 22-years-old, blonde, skinny with big t*ts.

“Those of us that have live with and actually seen a real woman naked and made love realise there are many, many iterations.”

Mad Men returns for its fifth season later this month.
