Jude Law tries to “live a normal life”.

The 41-year-old actor has become known worldwide thanks to his roles in movies such as The Talented Mr. Ripley and Sherlock Holmes.

But while Jude’s personal life has also become public knowledge, he does his best to ignore his celebrity status as much as possible.

Asked about how he copes with paparazzi and things written about him, Jude told fashion website MrPorter.com: “I no longer let that stuff in. I honestly don’t know and don’t care what’s being written about me. If people want to buy into it, then they can. I just try to live a normal life now.”

And Jude doesn’t think he’s being unreasonable to expect a degree of privacy in his daily life. In fact, the star says he wants to be able to do even the mundane, daily things without being bothered.

“It’s my right,” he said. “Being free to go out – to a restaurant, to the theatre, or even just to a gardening centre – is my right. That’s what living is. So that’s what I do.”

As his career progresses, Jude has taken on a different variety of roles, including his critically-acclaimed turn as Hamlet.

And he also revealed he has found William Shakespeare’s works a good benchmark by which to measure the ageing process.
“I tend to think of it (ageing) in terms of Shakespeare,” he said. “You can’t play Prospero in your twenties. And you can’t play Lear. In your twenties, you play Romeo, you play Hamlet. And maybe you progress to Coriolanus, to Henry V. They’re like hoops you have to jump through. Keep going, and you’ll get to Prospero, you’ll get to Lear. But you can’t rush it.”
