Madonna is a method actress, Julianne Moore has revealed.

The Oscar-nominated star appeared with the 56-year-old singer in 1993 movie Body of Evidence.

And Julianne, 54, opened up about the experience during an interview on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.

Admitting she was “very scared” of working alongside Madonna, who was at the height of her fame at the time, Julianne also told host Andy Cohen that the singer didn’t actually speak to her on the set because of their conflicting roles.

At one point, Julianne was required to slap Madonna – a prospect that heightened her nerves even more.

“I was super nervous. I was so, so nervous,” Julianne said. “I didn't actually make contact. It was a fake slap, but she wasn't talking to me because she was being kind of method-y doing her thing so I felt nervous and scared. I didn't want to hurt her at all.”

Julianne added that Madonna’s attitude on the set was due to the fact that they were playing enemies in the film.

When Andy asked if Madonna remains a method actress, Julianne admitted she’s not entirely sure.

“She was at that time, because she was playing the girlfriend and I was playing the wife,” Julianne said. “We were supposed to be enemies. She's always been very nice to me other times. This was just on this movie, so I was very scared of her.”

While Madonna’s movie career never really took off, with flops such as Swept Away and The Next Best Thing holding her back, Julianne is currently doing the promo rounds after receiving an Oscar nomination for her role in Still Alice.

The nod is her fifth Oscar nomination.
