Kanye West is feeling truly inspired after watching Joseph Gordon-Levitt in The Walk.

The 34-year-old actor stars as high-wire artist Philippe Petit, who dared to walk between the north and south towers of the World Trade Center via a tightrope in 1974. Both Joseph and Robert Zemeckis, who helmed the flick, have been praised for the finished piece, and it seems they've won over rapper Kanye too.

"I just saw The Walk and it was truly inspiring! The Walk is a modern elegant masterpiece," he gushed to fans on Twitter.

"Robert Zemeckis is a truly inventive filmmaker and captivating storyteller. He is one of my favorite directors of all time."

Clearly overwhelmed by the compliments, Joseph took to the social networking site to thank Kanye for his kind comments. "@kanyewest Glad you dug the movie, thanks! And, you'll be happy to know, Bob (as he calls himself) is as classy a guy as he is talented," he wrote in response to the rapper.

Joseph even favourited the tweets to make sure followers would see the musician's comments whenever they visited his page. It sparked fellow users to suggest Kanye tune into other projects based on the dangerous stunt, including 2008 documentary Man on Wire.

Joseph is notoriously private when it comes to his personal life and even married his wife, Tasha McCauley, in secret last December (14). In August (15) it was reported that the couple had welcomed a son and it was only recently that the star spoke about the new arrival.

“It’s not a lot of sleep!” he laughed to The Daily Beast. “We met through mutual friends that we both knew. The truth is, there’s a certain amount of insanity that comes with working in show business and for me, a big part of keeping my sanity is having a personal life that’s really separate from show business. With my wife and my son, I like to have a side of my life that’s excluded from public performance.”
