The Kardashians have settled their lawsuit against their former stepmother.
Kris Jenner and her children Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and Rob Kardashian last year sued Ellen Pearson, the widow of their late father and Kris’ ex-husband, Robert Kardashian, Sr., amid claims Ellen illegally sold his private diaries to the media.
Ellen countersued, claiming she was defamed by the family after the diary entries were released.
However, the Kardashians’ attorney, Even Spiegel, tells E! News the matter is now settled.
"Kris Jenner and Kimberly, Khloé, Kourtney and Robert (Jr) Kardashian have settled their lawsuit against Ellen Pearson Kardashian. The diaries and photos have been returned to the Kardashians, and all other terms of the settlement are confidential. Ellen will continue her state court action for defamation,” the lawyer stated.
The Kardashians filed an official complaint in a California federal court in April 2013.
The family claimed copyright infringement, alleging Ellen sold to the publisher of Life & Style and In Touch magazines photos and portions of a diary they inherited when their father died of esophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59.
E! reports the family was seeking at least $500,000 in damages.
Ellen, however, claims the reality stars orchestrated the lawsuit against her to keep viewers tuned in to their show in legal documents previously obtained by RadarOnline.
She attempted to validate her claims by calling attention to the second episode of season eight of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, entitled Enough is Enough.
“Robert’s diaries and notes exposed Kris as a manipulative and devious mother and ex-wife who simply used and exploited her children and family,” filings previously obtained by Radar stated. “The Kardashians carefully developed the Episode as a ‘spin’ to neutralise the exceptionally negative opinion that Robert had of Kris,” she claimed.
