Katie Holmes apparently wants to become a lawyer to prove to her daughter there’s more to life than “fancy dinners”.

Recently it’s been reported the actress has enrolled in law school to make her move from the showbiz world into the legal profession.

The former Dawson’s Creek star has six-year-old Suri with her ex-husband Tom Cruise and reportedly wants to show her little girl there are other careers out there.

“Katie has grown weary with Hollywood and acting of late. Her divorce from Tom has made her question what she really wants for her and Suri,” a source told British magazine Star.

“She doesn’t want her daughter thinking that all people need to do to get on in life is go for fancy dinners and wear designer clothes. She doesn’t want to be in the public eye just for being a celeb – she wants to leave her mark.”

Katie’s latest acting venture, Broadway show Dead Accounts, was axed last month due to poor ticket sales.

She also mysteriously didn’t appear on the New York Fashion Week schedule with luxury label Holmes & Yang, suggesting the 34-year-old really is planning on going in a new direction.

“Kate is sick of showbiz and wants to retrain in what she originally set out to do – and that is to follow her father into the legal world,” the insider explained.

Her father Martin is an attorney, while her mother Kathleen is a philanthropist.
