Keanu Reeves is upset he doesn’t get more offers from Hollywood studios.

The 50-year-old star of The Matrix confessed that in spite of his solidified name in the industry, he is rarely approached by the big hitters. He finds it unfortunate that the last studio project he did was 2013 fantasy action film, 47 Ronin.

“I haven't been getting many offers from the studios,” Keanu admitted in an interview with movie news website Indiewire.

Prior to 47 Ronin, he had not acted in a large scale studio film since he played Klaatu opposite Jennifer Connelly in 2008’s The Day the Earth Stood Still. Keanu expressed his displeasure with this fact and confirmed that it’s not because he personally prefers working on independent movies. He would much rather be getting studio offers.

“It sucks, but it's just the way it is,” said the Constantine favourite. “You can have positive and negative experiences, but what I like about studios are the resources and the worlds that they can create. Obviously, a lot of good filmmakers work on studio movies.”

In spite of the relative lack of money in independent filmmaking compared to studio shoots, Keanu is determined to soldier on. He is not averse to taking on roles behind the scenes, either.

“I want to keep going, making things, and telling stories,” he declared. “I want to be able to do that - to be an actor, a director, to produce, you know?”

Keanu directed 2013 martial arts movie Man of Tai Chi, as well as starring as Donaka Mark. He told the website that it was a positive experience.

“That was an amazing time. I really enjoyed directing,” Keanu gushed.
