Keanu Reeves thought seeing a ghost as a child was "interesting".

The 50-year-old actor was asked a round of quick-fire questions while he was on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, designed for him to open up about his life. One of them was whether he's ever experienced anything spooky, with Keanu happy to talk about one other-worldly experience.

"Yes, when I was a kid. I was in New York, it was cool - I was probably like six, seven years old, new apartment, we'd come from Australia. Renata, our nanny, was in the bedroom, my sister's asleep, I'm hanging out and there was a doorway and all of a sudden this jacket comes waving through the doorway, this empty jacket - there's no head, there's no body, there's no legs - and then it disappears," he explained.

"I was a little kid and I thought, 'OK, that's interesting,' and I looked over at the nanny and she's like this [freak out face] and I'm like, 'Oh wow, so that was real! OK! Wow, cool!'"

The star didn't seem unduly worried about the experience though, insisting it was more fun than anything.

He also chatted about the first time he met someone who shared his name. As it's unusual he is used to explaining how to pronounce it, but was astounded to realise a member of his family shares the moniker.

"Yes, I have a cousin," he laughed. "There's a cousin Keanu. I didn't meet that guy until I was eight or nine so I'd never heard that name for another human until that moment.

"Nicknames? I have yeah. People call me different things sometimes. One that is fun, I have a middle name, Charles, and one friend calls me Charlie."
