Kevin James rides his Segway around the house to "round up" his children.

The 49-year-old actor is promoting his new movie Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, which sees him returning as the eponymous security guard. Paul likes to patrol on the two-wheeled electric vehicle and in real life Kevin has become a fan of the transport too.

"I actually own one after the first movie! I've been known to go around the house, yell at the kids a little bit, round 'em up," he laughed to the American edition of OK! magazine.

Kevin and his wife Steffiana de la Cruz are parents to daughters Sienna-Marie and Shea Joelle and son Kannon, who all love his on-screen alter-ego. In fact they are such big fans of Paul they want to see him year round, which is a bit of a stretch for Kevin.

"They love him! They asked me to keep the moustache year-round, which is tough. But they like when I have it," he explained.

The tots were with Kevin while he shot the latest flick, which is set in Las Vegas. It sees Paul on holiday with his teenage daughter, but he becomes embroiled in some less than relaxing pursuits when duty calls.

Vegas is renowned for its wild nightlife, something the actor assures he didn't sample when the cameras stopped rolling.

"No! I had to go right to bed after filming to rest every sore part of me: every pulled hamstring, every bruise. And I had my kids with me around the clock," he explained.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop was a surprise hit when it was released in 2009, with even Kevin not realising how much people would love the affable character. It followed the security guard as he saved his shopping centre from a gang of criminals and audiences lapped it up.

"It surprised me probably as much as it surprised you," he told HeyUGuys earlier this month. "We knew we had a character that would hopefully connect with people but the amount of people it connected with that blew me away, I was flattered, I couldn't believe it."
